Between August 24 and 25, the Mossos d’Esquadra of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Northern Metropolitan Police Region arrested two men, aged 47 and 39, of Albanian nationality, accused of more than five assaults on homes in Maresme and Vallès Oriental. They are accused of several crimes of robbery with force and falsification of public, official and commercial documents.
The two detainees followed the pattern of silent thieves and used many security measures to avoid detection. From Barcelona they traveled in a rental vehicle to Badalona. From there they walked to a wooded area where they had hidden black clothing and the tools to commit the robberies. Later they traveled on foot to Montgat, where they had parked another vehicle whose license plates were changed. From there, they moved to the towns where they had previously set their objectives. Once there, they entered the houses by forcing doors and windows.
Once the robberies were committed, they would go to the wooded area where they would triage the jewels and abandon those that had no value. With the rental car they returned to their home in Barcelona.
The Mossos have been able to accredit these two individuals in five robberies in houses in Caldes de Montbuí, Santa Maria de Palautordera and Premià de Dalt. It is not ruled out that they may be related to more robberies since in an appeal to locate owners of stolen jewelry, which the police carried out through social networks, new victims have appeared. The crime of counterfeiting that is attributed to them is for the changed registration plates.
On August 24, investigators detained one of the Albanians in Montgat. On top of that he was wearing a balaclava and a mobile phone. Inside the vehicle they found a large number of tools like those used to rob the houses and two sets of license plates that did not correspond to the original ones. They were also able to find the hiding place in the wooded area where he had the clothes and there were still jewelry lying around. The other thief was arrested the next day in Barcelona.
On the 25th, an entry and search was carried out at the home of one of them in Barcelona. There they found coins and bills from several countries, euros in cash, three watches, five high-end mobile phones and various jewels. Both have passed judicial order.
