The month of September brings with it not only the return to school and the end of the holidays, but also fresh air on the television schedule. It’s a month of starts, premieres and, in some cases, surprising reinventions. One of the most striking this year comes from Sonsoles Ónega, who returns to the screens this Monday, September 4, leading his program Y ahora Sonsoles, on Antena 3. And he returns with more rhythm than ever, literally.
In a promotional strategy that no one saw coming, Atresmedia has released a clip in which Ónega breaks loose and shows off her dancing skills to the sound of Voy a pasar, a song sung by the singer Conchita. The result is as impressive as it is entertaining.
But despite how good it has been, it has not been easy to reach this point of excellence. “I stepped on my shoelaces rehearsing, I broke a pair of sandals in the recording and I forgot the song and the choreography several times. But… the result is very cool!”, shared the journalist and presenter on her Instagram profile , where he also posted the promotional video.
The presenter’s return comes after a summer period in which Y ahora Sonsoles saw its audience decrease under the helm of Rebeca Haro. With her return to television, Ónega faces the challenge of regaining leadership in her time slot and distancing herself from Ana Rosa Quintana, who will make her debut on TardeAR on September 18 with the clear objective of reigning in the afternoons just as she did with the mornings
However, Ónega has reasons for optimism. In its first season, the program emerged as the undisputed leader of the afternoon, registering an average share of 12.7% compared to its competitors. In addition, the new season promises to strengthen the research and news area, keeping the focus on interviews on set and exclusive ones.
For this task, the Y ahora Sonsoles team will incorporate new faces. Among the six new signings are the journalists Paloma García-Pelayo and Beatriz Cortázar, who will contribute to the renewed approach that the program intends to take.
With these fresh airs and a presenter willing to give everything —even on the dance floor—, the Y now Sonsoles team is preparing for a season that promises to be full of news, journalistic rigor and, why not, a few surprises like this dance.
