Berto Romero reopens his practice at Movistar Plus. The popular section that was part of Andreu Buenafuente’s Late Motif is being revived starting this Monday with his own program in which the actor and comedian will try to solve the questions raised by the viewers with his particular sense of humor and his worldview.

After premiering the Mira lo que has hecho fiction series on the platform, Berto now wanted to propose “a simple, short, weekly format, of pure entertainment, without further pretension” and “reconnect a little with my comic essence in a format that is practically that of a stand-up with a live audience”.

An original production by Movistar Plus in collaboration with El Terrat (The Mediapro Studio), El consultorio de Berto was recorded at the Gaudí Barcelona theater, with a 360 degree stage and audience on all sides, “which makes it very beautiful but sometimes it causes a slightly dizzying feeling”, confesses the comedian who we also currently see in the narrative outreach program Ovejas eléctricas (La 2).

Each delivery of the program lasts about 25 minutes and there are between five and seven audio queries and about two or three from the audience, “in addition to some small gag that can be given by the interaction between my assistant Andrés and I” . Everything is scripted, even the queries made by members of the public, who are asked for their content before making them. Berto defends it “as a kind of reaction to the improvisation that has taken over almost the entire field of comedy” and of which he himself is also a part with the Nadie sabe nada that he presents with Buenafuente a la Ser.

The comedian states that the top 3 most consulted topics are “practically the same now as when it was a section in Late Motiv: sex first, without a doubt, and then eschatology and animals, and within the latter, the subsection of cats is very important”.

When answering, Berto works with two screenwriters, Rafel Barceló and Júlia Cot. It applies the same criteria as in Late Motif: “We listen to all inquiries and if you suddenly think of something, you write it down. Then we evaluate it together and decide. Usually those to whom something has occurred to the three of us undoubtedly go to the program, and then also those to which one of the three is very clear, too.” The answer always seeks “purely and only to amuse, entertain and have a good time, and nothing else. Comedy 100 per 100′.

Among the inquiries that will be faced in this new stage, Berto advances some such as “that of a man who asked me five years ago in Late Motif if he was going bald, and since I did not answer him, now he is angry with me and scolds me because he has gone bald; another person asking why cats supposedly freak out when you show them a cucumber because they seem to think it’s a snake; someone who doubts the existence of the Moon because of the movements he sees on it; or someone who has to make a speech at their cousin’s wedding and doesn’t know what to say.”
