Barcelona, ??Sep 6 (EFE).- The association Llegir en Català, which brings together twelve publishing houses, will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its constitution with an event on September 15th as part of Catalan Book Week, according to made public this Wednesday.

The president of the association, Francesc Gil-Lluch, accompanied by Els Bookhunters, Sergi Purcet and Laia Bonjoch, will review the publishers that make up the group such as L’Avenç, Sembra Llibres, L’Agulla Daurada, Editorial Clandestina, Saldonar , Tigre de Paper, Chronos, Duna, Indomita, Mai Més, Raig Verd and Les Hores.

The intention, as Gil-Lluch explained at a press conference on Wednesday, is to highlight a milestone for each of them from the readers’ point of view.

All these publishers are independent and publish fiction, non-fiction, narrative and poetry in Catalan, putting, as their creators have highlighted, “science fiction and fantasy at the forefront”.

The project began with the aim of disseminating news from publishers and, as Laura Huerga, one of its former presidents, has recalled, a “common project” has been achieved thanks to the “involvement and generosity” of all members.

Núria Iceta, who also chaired the entity, has taken the floor to highlight the “importance of complicity” among all agents in the book sector, from writers and translators to booksellers, librarians, administration or cultural journalists. EFE
