The music world mourns a heartfelt loss. This past Thursday morning, María Jiménez died at the age of 73, in her home in Seville. The burning chapel was installed this morning in the Apeadero Hall of the Seville City Council. Around 1:00 p.m., her mortal remains arrived at the scene, under the watchful eye of a multitude of people, followers and acquaintances, who want to say a final goodbye to the tireless artist.

There have been many reactions that have emerged in the media and social networks in recent hours, including that of María del Monte. The Sevillian singer has also spoken live for the Fresh section of Ya Es Noon, on Telecinco, showing her sadness over her loss. The cantaora has highlighted her accumulated grief of the week, after the death of María Teresa Campos this past Monday. Similarly, she has praised her all-terrain figure.

“Water catches me falling on the wet now, because the streak we have is amazing. She was delicate, she was not well, we already knew that, that it was so fast, I think it took everyone by surprise,” commented the artist. Likewise, she has pointed out that all the people she has spoken to in the last few hours about María Jiménez had a smile on their face, good words for the missing artist.

The program team wanted to know a particular anecdote about María del Monte with her friend, and the singer wanted to remember her grace and her desire to talk to her. “I keep her heart,” she said, highlighting the times he called her on the phone to invite her to eat. She has also remembered how fun she was with her, wanting to see her friends “without sorrows or problems, without liking to be a victim in life, quite the opposite.”

“A lover of the stars, of the moon, of the beyond, of the hereafter,” she noted, surprising the program team with some words that Jiménez left her years ago. According to what she told him, she believed in her reincarnation and warned her that when she left she would return, and that she should be prepared. Del Monte recalled that anecdote and stated that now he himself does not know if she is ready for that to happen, after the hard week she has endured.

Alejandro Jiménez, María’s son, has also left several statements this morning. “We didn’t imagine this would happen so quickly. At least she has not suffered and has had a dignified death. She has not suffered and now we are going to the town hall,” he explained upon his arrival. “I’m a little in shock. The important thing is that María has not suffered. He came to the hospital a few days ago for a check-up and has lasted until now,” he later commented in Espejo Público.
