A year after presenting her last Newscast, which took place in July 2022, Ana Blanco returns to television with a fixed program. The journalist from Bilbao put an end to more than 30 uninterrupted years at the head of TVE’s news programs, becoming one of the veteran faces of television in Spain.

Since that goodbye, Blanco has continued to appear on screen occasionally, presenting programs such as the documentary series When Everything Changes or the 50th anniversary special of Informe Semanal, which aired last April. A program that will be conducted regularly starting this Saturday, as the public entity has already confirmed.

This Thursday, RTVE announced the incorporation of Ana Blanco as presenter of the news program that has been broadcast every Saturday for five decades, culminating the celebrations for its anniversary. This Saturday the 9th the start of the new season of Weekly Report will take place, now with the journalist at the helm.

This is the return of Blanco in the program, which he already hosted between 2007 and 2009, two seasons in which the different presenters of the Newscast also hosted the weekly Report on a rotating basis. The news comes just a few weeks after the possible retirement of Ana Blanco was published, something that was quickly denied by the public entity.

As RTVE states in its communication, Blanco’s arrival at Informe Semanal as a regular presenter has been very well received by the space’s team. Its director, José Carlos Gallardo, assures that the veteran experience of the journalist and the extensive history of the program represent a “perfect combination” that was already reflected in the special for the 50th anniversary.

“Both are History of Television. Ana Blanco represents the image and professionalism of public radio and television,” adds Gallardo, who considers that the communicator is “that journalist who would always want me to tell her things.”
