Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s intention to meet with Pedro Sánchez again, now to address a solution between the two major parties in Spain for the fit of Catalonia after Carles Puigdemont raised his conditions to negotiate an investiture, has received a slam by the PSOE. “We are not going to meet with a Popular Party that is in the hands of the extreme right,” acting minister Pilar Alegría warned this Friday, as spokesperson for the socialist executive. “Let Feijóo not waste the others’ time, since he has already done enough stopping a viable investiture, that of Pedro Sánchez, because of his impossible one,” they have settled in Ferraz.

“Any state party aspires to govern Spain, however the PP only aspires to be opposition, which is the only area where they feel comfortable, always being against,” Alegría lamented. “This is not the first time that the PSOE has had to solve problems generated by the PP,” said the minister, alluding to the process of resolving the political conflict in Catalonia. “But when we propose solutions, not only do we never have the support of the PP for anything, but we are only faced with noise and contempt for the PSOE and lack of respect,” Alegría highlighted.

The minister has regretted Feijóo’s attitude since the King commissioned him to face his inauguration as President of the Government on August 22, despite not having enough votes to achieve it. “What has Feijóo done for his own investiture? Confirm for us what we already knew: that he only has the unwavering support of Vox ”. Three weeks later, the socialist leader has stressed that the PP leader has the same votes for his investiture as he had on the election night of July 23. “A rather poor balance,” she pointed out.

“Then why did he ask for a month? Why have this country inexplicably paralyzed? Feijóo’s irresponsibility is paid for by all citizens. He is using an entire country to postpone its internal problems at the head of the PP ”, Alegría denounced. And she has insisted that Feijóo is using Spain to try to “postpone his internal crisis in the PP.” “He has no sense of State, he is only concerned about his status at the head of the PP, which will be questioned as soon as his fake investiture ends,” he criticized. Alegría has reiterated that “the flight forward” of Feijóo “is delaying the only viable government”, led by Pedro Sánchez.

The socialist leader has stressed that Feijóo now intends to meet again with the PSOE. But she has urged the PP leader, first of all, “to clarify himself with his own party, before asking others for meetings.” Alegría has thus referred to the internal noise that arose in the PP when Feijóo opted to find a “fit” for Catalonia in Spain, statements that she later had to clarify.

“Out of institutional courtesy, we accept the meeting in which we proposed renewing the General Council of the Judiciary before December 31, whoever the Prime Minister is,” Alegría recalled, referring to the last meeting between Feijóo and Sánchez. “We have not received a response from you,” he lamented, despite the fact that the blockade of this constitutional body has already been delayed for “more than 1,700 days.” And now, he has settled, “we are not going to meet with a PP that is in the hands of the extreme right”, as he demonstrates in his opinion, again, his last government pact in Murcia. And he has criticized that the popular ones are “the crooked lines of the European right”, for putting a “red carpet” on the extreme right.
