The Russian Armed Forces attacked the Odessa region last morning with 20 Shahed kamikaze drones, in the fifth attack of this nature in the last week against the region from which Ukraine exports most of its agricultural products by sea and river. as reported by Ukrainian authorities.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 14 of the Iranian drones launched by Russia against the region. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the devices were launched from the territory of the Russian Federation itself and from the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which is legally part of Ukraine, but has been occupied by Russia since 2014.

“Tonight Russian terrorists attacked the Odessa region with drones for the fifth time in a week,” said the head of the province’s Military Administration, Oleg Kiper. The remains of the downed drones caused damage to a non-residential building and caused a fire in the field that has been extinguished without creating any major problems.

Russia has systematically attacked ports and port infrastructure in Odessa since the Kremlin announced that it was terminating the so-called grain agreement, in which it agreed to allow the exit of Ukrainian grain through three Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea.

Russian attacks against these infrastructures have caused extensive material damage that undermines Ukraine’s export capacity. They have also spoiled tens of thousands of tons of grain, and have blocked the departure of a good part of the Ukrainian agricultural products that were supposed to reach other markets.
