At 68 years old, Pedro Piqueras is one of the most emblematic faces of communication in Spain. The legendary presenter has become, after more than four decades dedicated to television, Mediaset’s most veteran presenter. In recent weeks, his name has made a lot of headlines, as many have suggested that he could say goodbye to Informativos Telecinco, the news program he has directed and presented since 2006. That is why the network’s news director, Juan Pedro Valentín wanted to settle all kinds of speculations through an interview granted to verTele.

As we said, Piqueras is one of the most recognized faces of Telecinco, and that is why the manager has explained that no one plans to replace him. It should be remembered that Mediaset has proposed several changes in recent months after the loss of audience. “We are not proposing anything, neither for January nor ever. I have no idea if he will be there in January, and we work with the possibility that he will be there, or with the possibility that he will not be there, because he will be the one who decides. I don’t I have no element transferred by him that will not be there,” Juan Pedro expressed to the aforementioned media during the interview.

According to what he says, Mediaset is not determined to lose Pedro. According to what he says, the last word will be Piqueras himself, who has earned the right to decide. And the journalist has spent his entire life dedicated to communication, and although he has been in other media, such as RTVE or Antena 3, his home is Mediaset. “He will continue until he wants,” says Valentín. Furthermore, the news director points out that they do not contemplate any deadline for the presenter’s departure to occur.

Although there will be no changes regarding the presenter, the manager assures that there will be one on the set. “We’re going to change them. It’s not about making the set a little more beautiful, we want to change everything: the sets, the way of working… everything,” he expressed in the interview. Some changes that will bring new presenters. “We have a lot of great presenters, so we will look inside the house. We are always looking outside, but the first place I look is inside,” he said.

In fact, in recent weeks we have seen Carme Chaparro replacing Pedro Piqueras on Informativos Telecinco. She was one of the presenters who went on to present Noticias Cuatro y Cuatro al día. With the return of the news to Mediaset’s ‘small chain’, the journalist and writer could host one of the daily editions. We will have to wait to find out the next changes that the communication group has planned for its programs.
