Amor Romeira is one of the television characters who has fought the most for the trans collective. However, he still runs into the misunderstanding of some people, something that causes him pain. For this reason, he has decided to move away from social networks.

While Romeira was participating in the Cuatro program, presenter Sonia Ferrer asked a question that many considered insensitive: “What is it to be a woman?” Romeira’s response was direct, showing her disbelief at having to explain at this point what it means to be a woman.

The Mediaset collaborator explained that the implicit connotations in that question reflect a persistent skepticism towards the gender identity of trans people. Ferrer, for her part, defined woman as “an adult human female”, a biological argument that does not consider gender identity as a psychological and social reality.

Romeira’s reaction summed up the exhaustion the trans community feels in the face of the constant need to justify their identity. “I don’t understand the same old debate again,” Romeira reproached, alluding to the progress made in terms of rights and recognition.

Unfortunately, this event has left significant consequences on the collaborator, leading Romeira to leave X due to the wave of transphobic comments she has received after her intervention. Through an emotional statement, she has shared the sadness in her heart and her need to disconnect to safeguard her emotional well-being.

On Instagram, she has not only recounted her exhaustion from having to constantly fight for her right to identity and respect, but she has also recalled her pioneering path on television as a trans woman, a path marked by transphobia and misunderstanding. As she has explained, her entry into Big Brother was one of her attempts to “revolutionize a country” and give visibility to the normality of being a trans woman.

Romeira’s experience highlights the absolute need for education, respect and tolerance for all identities. However, she is grateful for the support received and has assured that her commitment to continue fighting is intact.
