ONCE dedicates the coupon for the draw this Sunday, September 17, to the Rioja dessert fardelejos. The image will be printed on the five million copies that are for sale, and that can provide 300,000 euros to the winner, as highlighted by the territorial delegate of the organization in La Rioja, Belén González.

Belonging to the series ‘A sweet?’ It was presented this morning by González herself, together with the representative of the pastry sector of the Rioja Association of Bakery and Pastry Manufacturers, David Nicolás, and the president of the Territorial Council of ONCE, Javier Muñoz.

González has valued both the candy and the fact that it “will circulate throughout the national territory” by being printed on those five million coupons, while he hopes it can be sold at the beginning of the San Mateo festivities. where “a large number of tourists” will also come.

The territorial delegate has expressed the hope that the juicy prize, of 300,000, “falls in La Rioja, and does so to a family in need.” They can be purchased at the usual points of sale with their 110 sellers in the region, more than 20,000 throughout Spain.

For his part, Nicolás thanked ONCE for the initiative, and then explained the dessert. “Fardelejos are a sweet of Arab origin that began to be produced in Arnedo, in the 9th and 10th centuries, becoming a typical snack throughout the Autonomous Community,” he highlighted.

He explained that “they are made with a very fine puff pastry coating with a filling similar to marzipan, but lighter, consisting of egg, ground almonds, lemon zest and sugar. It is served covered with icing sugar. It is rectangular in shape with its raised edges”.

The series will consist of 50 coupons, one for each province, belonging to the Sunday draws. It is developed in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Artisan Pastry Entrepreneurs (CEEAP), whose objectives include defending and representing the needs of artisan pastry.
