Antonia, the wife of Rosa Peral’s ex-husband, has decided not to remain silent in the face of the serious accusations made against her in the Netflix documentary, Las Cintas de Rosa Peral. In the production, which is a documentary in which the vision of the woman convicted of the murder of her boyfriend is exposed, Peral makes serious accusations against Antonia. “What Antonia said, that is what put me in prison.”

And what did Antonia say? Antonia was a witness at the trial even though her testimony was finally not accepted at the sentencing, so it was not her words that put Rosa Peral in prison. A few days after the crime, the woman explained to the Mossos something that Rosa Peral’s eldest daughter had told her: that on the night of the crime she had seen her mother stained with blood.

In a letter to which ‘La Vanguardia’ has had access, Antonia reproaches that: “Rosa maliciously implies that my statement as a witness IS FALSE, inventing a story to condemn her. I cannot allow myself to be accused of false testimony. in a trial of such serious facts. I confirm myself again and 100% in all my statements.” And she adds: “I would give anything to never have been involved in something like this, but especially because the girl that I care for, educate, feed, help grow, and love as if she were my daughter every day, would not have had to witness such horrible events.

The testimony that Antonia gave at the trial was ultimately not accepted by the court. It is based on this fact that the documentary questions Rosa Peral’s conviction, ignoring the rest of the evidence against her, such as that she was the one who called Albert López to come to her house and that she was the one who drove the car. Pedro with his body in the trunk towards the Foix reservoir or that it was she who asked a friend for a van to get rid of the sofa on which Pedro was killed. All of this does not appear in the documentary. For these reasons, Antonia says that she sees herself “in the obligation to respond, through allusions, to the serious and unfortunate accusations that the protagonist” makes against her person.

“I wish to clarify that Rosa and I were NOT getting along badly, as she explains, and I want to contextualize the situation with respect to her words,” the letter continues. After this, Rosa’s ex-husband’s wife clarifies the first moment in which he met her: to introduce him to her children.

Likewise, she assures that during the divorce proceedings between Peral and her ex-husband she has always tried to “mediate between them to reduce the tension” and has reproached him for actions that she did not like. “Since Pedro’s disappearance and until Rosa’s arrest, I showed her my utmost understanding and affection, calling her constantly,” she added.

Antonia explains that she has come to eat with Rosa Peral’s parents for the sake of the little ones. “It was not until after my statements (in which she was obviously harmed), in court and with Rosa already in prison, that I became, along with Rubén, the target of their anger,” he wanted to make clear.

The woman affirms that she can understand that Rosa Peral’s new drift is aimed at “forming a defense strategy in the face of public opinion,” but that she is wrong in using her as a “scapegoat.” Finally, she wants to make it clear that she stands by all of her words given during the trial and that she will not allow herself to be accused of having given false testimony.
