Arantxa Sánchez Vicario has become one of the great protagonists of our country today. The former tennis player sat in the dock last Tuesday, September 12, where she testified in the Criminal Court No. 25 of Barcelona for an alleged crime of taking property.

But Vicario is not the only one accused of this crime, the one who still appears as her husband before the law, Josep Santacana, faces the same crime as the athlete, and both could be sentenced to four years in prison and pay compensation of 6 .6 million euros.

During the first stage of the trial, the Spanish athlete attacked her husband and declared before the judge that her actions had been committed under the influence of her current husband, Josep Santacana. ”He decided to act like that, he didn’t want to pay. And yes, it was he who emptied the accounts so as not to pay the Bank of Luxembourg,’ she declared.

Both are accused of hatching a plan to avoid paying the debt they owed to the Bank of Luxembourg. For this reason, the former tennis player also stated this Tuesday that her intention was to pay off the debt, but her husband did not let her and assured that “he was in charge of everything.”

The case has become one of the most current media topics, which is why many media outlets have echoed it and have wanted to treat the matter with complete journalistic rigor. One of the spaces that began Wednesday’s program with the athlete’s trial was And Now Sonsoles. The format presented by Sonsoles Ónega has also been able to speak exclusively with one of Arantxa Sánchez Vicario’s close friends.

Alberto Cebrián is one of the athlete’s great friends and a few days ago he was able to be with her. Therefore, the first thing the presenter asked her was how she saw the former tennis player the day before starting the judicial process. ”I saw her wanting to be well, but she was broken, basically broken. I’m not surprised by what happened at the trial because I know her and you have to see people inside. But she is happy because it was all going to end. She trusts the Spanish justice system to the fullest. She said “I’m calm,” Cerdán confessed.

”It is evident that everything is going to be governed by documentation, but there is something that is important to say. I think Josep is a charming person. Many athletes risk their lives in their sport, but they have to trust someone, especially when it is their husband. I think she found a charming person, she fell in love, but I do believe that from a certain moment onwards, Arantxa’s friends and family were a little apart,’ she said.
