This Wednesday was Ana Obregón’s night, and twice as well. On the one hand, for the premiere of El musical de tu vida, the new Telecinco program with Carlos Sobera at the controls, where the actress sat as the first guest, leaving unforgettable moments in memory, especially of her son Aless Lequio. ; and, on the other, for her appearance during the Blood Ties debate on TVE dedicated to Julio Iglesias.
However, it was in the program presented by Jordi González where the biologist also starred in an uncomfortable moment during the debate after the documentary. Obregón was extremely upset by something that was said regarding the singer’s life, to the point of interrupting said information. “I don’t give a damn,” she blurted out, visibly angry.
Blood Ties dedicated its last installment on TVE this Wednesday to honor Julio Iglesias, who turns 80 on September 23. On this occasion, Jordi González’s program was able to count on the documentary testimony of great friends of the singer, such as Gloria and Emilio Stefan, Lolita, Víctor Manuel, David Summers or Carlos Herrera, and also that of two of his children, Chabeli and Julio Iglesias Jr.
“It has been a pleasure and a pride as a daughter to be part of this beautiful tribute that we have made to my beloved father, whom I admire madly,” Chabeli said on her social networks. Already in the debate, other friends of the interpreter were also on the set, such as Ana Obregón.
The actress revealed that she met Julio Iglesias thanks to her parents. “My parents were friends of Julio,” she explained. And then, Obregón told of the day he took her in at her house in Los Angeles after two individuals attacked her home. “But they didn’t steal anything from me because they saw that there was nothing to take,” she wanted to clarify.
After this traumatic episode, which caused the biologist a severe anxiety attack, she went to live with Julio Iglesias. “I went from that to living in Bel-Air,” she said. This is how the singer, who was already well known on stage, became a great support for Obregón who came to the United States to try his luck in the world of cinema.
“Julio’s human side is what I would like to see tonight,” the presenter also stressed at another time. However, at one point during the evening, the program’s collaborators brought up an aspect of Julio Iglesias, which Ana Obregón did not like at all. It’s about the aesthetic touch-ups.
“It seems bad to me that we are talking about this,” the actress said, paralyzing the debate. “We are not highlighting that she has a Grammy, that she has a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, that she has sold 250 million copies…” she continued, visibly upset. “I don’t give a damn if it’s placed here or there. What really matters to me is that everything moves when I hear I forgot to live,” she said, facing her conversation partners.
Despite the justifications of journalists like Antonio Montero, who claimed that followers like to know that type of thing, Ana Obregón went off on a tangent and explained a funny anecdote about Julio Iglesias’ tan.
“Julio was going to make an album with Diana Ross and he wanted to be tanned. At home he had one of those sunbathing machines, but it doesn’t have a bell that tells you how long you’ve been there, so he told Tocho and I to let them know in about 20 minutes. We went down to the pool and when we realized that it was starting to get dark. That was when we ran for Julio, who ended up with burns and everything,” he recalled.
