The Barcelona Prosecutor’s Office has archived the criminal investigation against several commanders of the Badalona Urban Guard for the fraudulent collection of overtime, which led to the suspension of payments of these emoluments and the accusation of prevarication and embezzlement against several police chiefs.

In a statement, the SIP/Fepol union, which brings together police officers, assures that the accused members have proven their innocence and that the Prosecutor’s Office finally “had no choice but to file the complaint” without the possibility of recourse as “they did not find any irregularity”.

SIP/Fepol accuses the other police union PSU, which denounced possible irregularities in the payment of overtime to commanders, of trying to “attribute very serious crimes to co-workers.” The complaint, they point out, “has harmed and affected the accused and their families” while it has “destabilized the good work environment” and has generated serious problems in the collection of the extraordinary services of the agents, as well as “the cuts and non-payment of these services that, to this day, are still accrued”.

The Prosecutor’s Office itself, although it files the criminal proceedings, leaves open the possibility of an administrative process, since it admits that the complaints detect several anomalies in the payment of overtime for senior managers on days that theoretically should have been holidays and therefore non-working days. .
