The Nicaraguan writer Sergio Ramírez, 2018 Cervantes Prize winner, will be in charge of reading the proclamation of Hispanidad 2023 in Madrid on October 6, in an event that will be held at the Lope de Vega House Museum in the capital and that will mark the starting ten days with 165 activities in which music will once again have a prominent role with Carlos Vives, Tequila, Delaporte or Carlos Sadness as headliners and in which the Dominican Republic will be the guest country. These will be some of the activities:

Carlos Vives in the Puerta de Alcalá. The Dominican Republic will be the guest country in the events that the Community of Madrid has organized on the occasion of Hispanidad 2023 and which will have as its highlight the performance of the Colombian singer Carlos Vives, on Saturday, October 14 at Puerta de Alcalá. The Colombian singer-songwriter will present to the public his famous songs, La Gota Fría or Fruta Fresca.

More concerts. Tequila, the band formed by Ariel Rot and Alejo Stive, will play on the 11th in the Plaza Mayor. On October 12, National Holiday Day, the cultural program will be broad and diverse, with concerts in the Plaza Mayor de Juan Valderrama or the Corral de la Morería show, where artists such as Jesús Carmona, Eduardo Guerrero, Olga Pericet will perform. and Ana Morales. Finally, the Panamanian singer Lorna will close the day in Matadero.

MadBlue Festival. On October 7 and 8 it will bring together names like Love of Lesbian, Arde Bogotá or Miss Caffeína.

Cavalcade of Hispanidad. On October 7, Madrid will be filled with color between the streets of Bravo Murillo and Fuencarral to host the Cabalgata de la Hispanidad, which will be led by the Royal Band of Pipers of Ourense and will feature a parade where around 400 will parade components. The Dominican Republic will have a “special role” in the Parade and will offer performances by performers such as Vicente García, Grupo Bonyé, Héctor Guerra, Mariella Kohn, Riccie Oriach, Xiomara Fortuna and Elvin Vivencias

Race of Hispanicity. Furthermore, for the first time in the development of this multicultural meeting, the Race of Hispanidad (Run For Earth – Mad Blue – Hispanidad) will be held, which will take place through the streets of the capital on October 8 with two different routes of 5 and 10 kilometres.

Conferences and gastronomy. The main cultural institutions in the region, such as the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, the Royal Spanish Academy, the Naval Museum, the American Museum, the Costume Museum or CaixaForum, will host programming by Latin American artists and companies. Some of the capital’s markets, such as Barceló, Maravillas, Ventas, Mostenses and Antón Martín, will host culinary meetings.

The Surge Madrid performing arts festival will incorporate from October 6 to 15 a specific Latin American programming with a special window to the state of Jalisco. The Mexican Luis de Tavira, from the Teatro de la Abadía, will perform the monologue Krapp’s last tape and, likewise, the company Los Colochos will bring the play Reina to the Green Room of the Teatros del Canal.
