Near Torroella de Montgrí, in the Baix Empordà, in the Gola del Ter marshes, there are fabulous sculptures made of reeds and wood. It is the Parc de la Pletera, which I visited for The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.
The habitat is characteristic of the coastal area of ??Baix Empordà. The succulent scrub, half a meter high, stands out, as well as the reed (Phragmites australis) and the sea rush (Juncus maritimus), which offer different shades of color.
In the Pletera space is the Frare Ramon pond, different from the other lagoons present in the area due to its water regime. It only receives sea water, so it has a very fluctuating saline composition.
During the summer, due to evaporation, it reaches salinities much higher than that of the sea, according to the Consorci del Ter.
On the Pletera itinerary there are recovered dune spaces, brackish wetlands, temporary and permanent pools of fresh and salt water. This diversity of habitats also allows a wide variety of flora and fauna species to be found.
