The president of the Government of Extremadura, María Guardiola, remains admitted this Monday to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University Hospital of Cáceres after suffering sepsis during her surgical recovery.
The person in charge of the Extremaduran Executive has been hospitalized since last Wednesday when the afternoon of the previous day she began to feel fever and discomfort. After undergoing medical tests, it was determined that Guardiola was suffering from an infectious process and it was decided to undergo surgery.
Later, while recovering from surgery, the president suffered sepsis, for which she had to be treated in the ICU, as reported in a statement by the Junta de Extremadura.
For the moment, Guardiola must remain in the ICU until the team of professionals decides to transfer him to the ward for his complete recovery, an event that is expected to occur this Monday.
In the statement, the regional government has declared that when the doctors treating her so determine, the Extremaduran president will resume her public agenda.
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has wished a “speedy recovery” and has sent encouragement to the Extremaduran president through his social networks.
“I want to send a hug and my best wishes for a speedy recovery to the president of Extremadura. Much encouragement, María Guardiola,” Sánchez wrote in a message on the social network X.
