A 26-year-old young man, who was being sought for an alleged case of gender violence, entered the Civil Guard barracks in Chiclana de la Frontera, in Cádiz, violently this morning and attacked nine of the agents who were there. present at the facilities, seven of whom are on medical leave as a result of the attack.
The individual, who was fleeing the barracks on a motorcycle, was arrested shortly after in the vicinity of a gas station near the scene of the incident and accused of one crime of attempted homicide, two of serious injuries, five of minor injuries, attack on authority and two of damage to private vehicles, he managed to gain the defense of one of the guards with whom he perpetrated his attack.
Now, different professional associations of the Civil Guard (JUCIL, AUGC and Independientes de la Guardia Civil IGC), have asked the central government that their profession be considered risky as well as that they be “immediately” equipped with taser electric guns.
They were looking for him, confirmed the Secretary of Communication of Jucil (professional association Justice for the Civil Guard), Agustín Leal. Shortly after twelve at night he had been alerted to a possible case of gender violence in the Cadiz city. The agents had gone to the indicated place without finding any address and it was not until one in the morning when the normal functioning of the Civil Guard barracks was altered with the emergence of this neighbor uttering voices and threats against everyone present. Several Benemérita agents tried to calm him down but, far from being able to do so, they were injured to varying degrees of severity: one of them was hit in the head, which caused an open wound for which he needed several stitches in his head and back. face, while another agent suffered a broken hand.
“He caught the door guard alone, as always. The companion comes out to tell him to remove the motorcycle that had climbed onto the sidewalk of the barracks, and the subject pounces on him. Upon hearing the fight, with both on the ground, the police come out. colleagues from Citizen Services. During the fight, the attacker removes the civil guard’s defense and hits him in the head with it,” describes Leal, who has announced that Jucil will appear as a private prosecutor in the case.
“When he tries to hit him again, the guard takes out his gun and shoots into the air. The attacker runs away, takes the extendable baton and hits cars and motorcycles that he encounters on the road with it,” says Leal, who points out that “no It was easy to reduce him, because armed with the defense he hit everyone who approached,” he says.
After carrying out the attack, the man began to flee from the barracks, but he did not get very far and was detained at a nearby gas station and subdued by Civil Guard agents, with the collaboration of the Local Police. The Chiclana guard court has been in charge of the investigation, and the detainee must be taken there in the next few hours.
Following the events, Jucil has announced that he will appear as a private prosecutor in the trial against the perpetrator of the injuries. “Unfortunately, this is an increasingly common circumstance for the civil guards and Jucil will act against the aggressor, so its legal services will appear in this case as a private prosecution to demand the highest penalties and compensation for the aggressor,” he said. assured in a note by the organization’s Secretary of Communication.
“We are facing a situation in which the lack of a clear protocol on how to act in the face of this unusual violence, the absence of ‘taser’ type electric guns that help control the situation and not having anti-theft covers on the guns place them in a risky profession that does not have this condition recognized,” concludes Agustín Leal.
And the availability of these pistols is also claimed by AUGC and Independents of the Civil Guard (IGC). The three entities demanded on Sunday from the central government that they be considered a risky profession, as is the case with the rest of the regional police forces, from the agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Ertzaintza or the Foral de Navarra to the police officers. locals, a demand shared by the Benemérita and the National Police.
