The plenary session of the Valencian Government approved this Tuesday the appointment as the new president of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) of Mar Chao, until now commercial and business development director of the Valencian port. She replaces Joan Calabuig, who was appointed by Ximo Puig a few months ago.

The spokesperson for the Consell, Ruth Merino, explained that the new president of the PAV is a Roads, Canals and Ports engineer, has been responsible for intermodal transport at Inditex, director of exploitation of State Ports and “knows the port area perfectly.” .

Merino has justified this appointment to replace Joan Calabuig in that they have been looking for “the best candidate” and has considered that it is a “great choice”, while asked about when the person responsible for the Port of Alicante will be appointed He has indicated that he is “looking for the best.”

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has highlighted that the new president of the Port Authority (APV), Mar Chao, is “the best professional” to occupy this position, while ensuring that the Generalitat and the city councils will work together to face “challenges” such as the northern expansion of the Port of Valencia or the future of La Marina.

“We are choosing the best and, as it could not be otherwise, I am convinced that Mar Chao is the best,” Mazón indicated to questions from the media, after visiting the Habitat contest at Feria Valencia, after the plenary session of the Consell has announced the election of Chao to manage Valenciaport.

Mazón has assured that the new president of the PAV “knows the port and State Ports inside and out” and has “first-level professional logistics training”, in addition to being “fully aware of the challenges, no longer just important but urgent ones, which the Port of València has”, which are “the future of La Marina and, above all, the expansion of the northern terminal”.
