When we travel we usually pay special attention to aspects such as the language, currency, gastronomy, culture or folklore of the places we visit. We observe with some curiosity the typical costumes of distant lands, which are far from the standards to which we are accustomed and whose exoticism invites us to let our imagination fly.

The way a society dresses reveals many aspects of its customs, its climate, its history and, ultimately, its way of life. During a journey we discover details that capture our interest, surprise us and make us wonder what their origin is, the reason why they are like this and the reason for their use.

Some pieces are, to our eyes, fascinating. This is the case of hats, whose history goes back thousands of years. And traditionally, men – and women – have covered their heads with the most varied hats or caps, either to protect themselves from the cold or the sun, or as a sign of identity and distinction. There are all types: leather, felt, wool, wide brim, conical, elegant, original…

However, when you travel, do you pay attention to hats? We suggest you tour a piece of the world from hat to hat. From the bowler hat of the indigenous Bolivian women to the Russian ushanka, passing through the Nepalese topi, the charro of Mexico or the cork hat of Australia. We didn’t discover them all – it would be impossible – but here you have a small sample.
