In the conclusions of the Junts per Catalunya group of the Parliament commission that has studied in recent months the historical debt of the State with Catalonia, Jordi Turull’s formation estimates the historical debt at 450,000 million euros in the last 33 years due to underfinancing.
The party, after hearing from the experts, calculates the total figure of 450,000 million, estimating that there are 50,900 million in infrastructure deficits, 375,000 million in social contributions and 30,000 million in pensions.
The parliamentary group led by Albert Batet, in the document that was registered last Friday, demands as one of the solutions the forgiveness of the debt of the Autonomous Liquidity Fund (FLA) – some 80,000 million euros – and also demands the transfer of the powers to collect taxes through the Agència Tributària de Catalunya (ATC).
This matter is not directly related to the investiture of Pedro Sánchez and JxCat’s negotiations with the PSOE for the new legislature of the Congress of Deputies. The parliamentary commission in which these figures have been presented was promoted at the end of 2021. However, no one is aware that all of this is relevant and that the sovereigntist formations have been denouncing for some time the underfinancing of Catalonia by the State, the deficit of investments and low budget execution; and who aspire to also introduce this issue into political negotiations.
