Neither confused nor promiscuous nor undecided. Bisexual people, say the committees that represent them, are victims of a lot of myths derived from the ignorance of a society that ignores them because it cannot fit them into closed categories. This is the vision against which this collective fights and which especially today, that of its day, that of Bisexuality, rescues new and old scientific studies that put us all in the same bag.
In Three essays on the theory of sexuality (1905), the cathartic Freud wrote that we are all born bisexual, although we later decide in one sense or another as adults. This was repeated by the American sexologist and sociologist Alfred Kinsey when he developed a scale in 1948 that showed that very few people identified completely with the extremes. He ruled that it would be difficult (impossible) to find someone who perfectly married homosexuality, just as it would also be difficult (even more) to find someone who could scientifically certify their full heterosexuality. It’s a shame that when it seemed like we already had it pretty clear, that it’s okay, that we’re all bisexual even a little bit, new voices come out to stir up the truths.
Because monosexuals (those who can relate erotically and lovingly to a single gender, either of the same or the other, even if it is the same, and I have understood) rebel, also feeling excluded well, we should call them pansexual). Solesexuals don’t fit in either (must be lifelong onanists?). And less those who defend the disappearance of the categories between men and women. If not, what is your gender and what is the opposite? So what are you, sexually?
The smartest are those who warn that we would have more time (and more desire) for things of pleasure if we allowed ourselves to be in such a pinch. Because, make no mistake, all this already happened in ancient Greece and ancient Rome, and among the bonobos, the orca and the bottlenose dolphin. And so do some seagulls, lots of fish, bison and flatworms.
Wow, beyond blowing up intimates on Instagram and looking for flags and names for everything, we haven’t invented anything.
