The astronomical summer ended last week, but it seems that it refuses to go away completely. The forecasts clearly indicate that in the next 10 days stable weather will prevail in most of Spain with maximums that will experience a “progressive rise” especially starting on Thursday, with values ??higher than usual for the time of year, exceeding the 30 degrees and even 32-34 degrees.

“These are values ??more typical of the end of August than the end of September or the beginning of October”, especially in the southern half of the peninsula, with maximums between 5 and 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, Rubén del del has predicted. Campo, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). This anti-cyclonic situation will favor the “veranillo de San Miguel”, also known as “veranillo del quince” and which usually occurs around September 29, to arrive one year more on time for its appointment.

This Monday will be a calm day, with some light rain in the northwest of Galicia and with temperatures rising in most of the country and in capitals such as Badajoz, Córdoba, Granada or Seville they will reach values ??between 33 to 35 degrees; On Tuesday the maximum temperatures will exceed 25 degrees in most of the territory and again 30 degrees in the southern half. However, the Aemet spokesperson detailed, the early mornings will still be cool in areas of the northern plateau and central moors, where it will be around 10 degrees early in the morning, such as in Palencia or Teruel.

On Wednesday the stable weather will persist, although a front will touch Galicia with light rains and strong wind, while in the rest, the most notable will be morning fog banks and the wind that will blow from the southwest and that will lead to a clear rise in temperatures in the Eastern Cantabrian Sea, where temperatures could reach or exceed 30 degrees. That day it will exceed 30-32 degrees in the northeast of the peninsula, such as Zaragoza or Lleida, 30 degrees in the southern half, while in the Guadalquivir, Seville and Córdoba it will be around 34 degrees.

During the second half of the week, temperatures will continue to rise “slightly but progressively” favoring “a very warm environment for the time of year in most of the country”, especially in the interior of the peninsula in the central hours of the day. , with maximums that will be between 5 and 10 degrees above normal. Starting on Thursday, temperatures will exceed 25 degrees in the northeast, 30 degrees in the southern half and 32-34 degrees in the Guadalquivir Valley in a period with almost total absence of precipitation.

Rubén Del Campo has announced that in the final stretch of the week an episode of high temperatures may “set up” due to the atmospheric stability caused by a ridge that guarantees slightly cloudy skies, without mixing of air masses, and in which the Sun adequately heats the surface.

In parallel, within this ridge, the so-called “sinking phenomena” will occur, a descent of the air from medium and high levels of the troposphere towards lower areas, compressing and heating the air along its path and all of this – the spokesperson has stressed. -, within a mass of very warm air coming from lower latitudes, concluded Del Campo.
