A student in a wheelchair from the La Encarnación de Torrent Special Education Center (CEE) and his mother were injured yesterday when the ramp of the school bus transporting the minor failed. The bus belongs to the company Monbús, which covers line 4 Torrent-Paiporta-València and which operates – through the Valencia V5 UTE – several school transport routes in the province of Valencia that have presented problems since the beginning of the school year, last 11 of September.
According to details from the Federation of Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students in the province (Fampa-València), the incident occurred this Monday when arriving at the Maestro Palau de Paiporta street stop, when the ramp did not work correctly, the student fell of her and, when trying to stop him, the mother was also injured and had to be taken to the hospital. Both are in good condition, as confirmed by the Department of Education.
The president of FAMPA-València, Rubén Pacheco, has regretted that the associations have been “warning for weeks that the operation of this service is not correct and that strong measures should be taken.” In response, the Department of Education, Universities and Employment assures that it has made itself available to the student, as well as his family, and has offered them legal advice “in the event that they consider it appropriate to claim some type of damage to the company”.
The Ministry has contacted the student’s family and has offered them “emotional support and accompaniment” through specialized psychologists. Likewise, the Ministry points out that it is processing the penalty file against the company for the incidents recorded since the beginning of the course, limited to certain routes in the province of Valencia.
For the file, Education assures that information has already been collected from the Territorial Directorate of Valencia, the Inspection, the centers themselves and the Police and the process continues. “From the resolution of the penalty file, the appropriate decisions will be made,” they point out.
In addition to the problems in school transportation, which still continue, in the first days of the school year there was a delay in awards, a problem that seems to be entrenched. This Tuesday, the Ministry has modified the calendar for awarding teaching positions this week due to “technical incidents”, so that the one scheduled for this Tuesday will be made next Thursday, September 28.
The indicative calendar of the next awards can be consulted on the website of the Ministry, which in a statement informs that this change is contemplated in the regulations, as established in point 2.5. of the Adjudication Calendar of the Resolution of January 23, 2018, of the General Directorate of Centers and Teaching Personnel.
