The acting Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has regretted that the leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, did not want Podemos to intervene in the investiture debate of the PP candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, despite the fact that they expressly requested it.
“We have asked to intervene but that is a decision made by Yolanda Díaz, who did not want Podemos to intervene in this plenary session,” the number two of the purple party emphasized to the media in the halls of Congress.
The Sumar parliamentary group opted for its spokesperson in Congress, Marta Lois; the leader of IU, Enrique Santiago; and the deputy spokesperson and deputy of En Comú Podem, Aina Vidal, to respond to Feijóo, leaving the purple formation outside the rostrum.
In this regard, Podemos co-spokesman Javier Sánchez Serna missed the voice of the purple party in the debate and advised “autonomy” to Sumar so as not to end up being a “comparsa” of the PSOE.
On the other hand, and questioned about her opinion regarding the speech made yesterday by the socialist deputy Óscar Puente, the Minister of Equality has indicated that the socialists did “what they had to do” and that, “with some modifications, it could have been” perfectly a speech that Podemos would have made”.
What’s more, he has criticized that a certain sector of the press now applauds that tone, but that when Podemos uses it it is described as “noise.”
“Maybe the problem has never been Podemos’s speech, but rather an explicit desire of certain sectors in this country to hit Podemos against all odds,” he explained.
