La Moderna has landed on La 1. TVE’s new proposal arrives today, Wednesday, September 27, on the small screen with a grand premiere that will take place at 10:40 p.m.
It is a television adaptation of the successful Tea Rooms, based on the stories of working women by author Luisa Carnés. This last project will be included starting this Thursday in the after-dinner sessions of La 1, broadcasting before La Promesa, with which it has a lot in common.
While the successful and established La 1 novel is set in the Cordoba region of Los Pedroches in 1913, the new premiere will be set in Madrid in the 1930s, before the outbreak of the Civil War.
La Moderna begins with its protagonist, Matilde, going to a job interview while walking along the popular Alcalá street. After a sexual proposal from her possible boss, Matilde rejects the position of secretary and typist, marking the feminist line of the series.
As TVE has revealed, Matilde is a young woman who aims to raise her family after the tragic death of her father in a car accident. Played by Helena Ezquerro, Matilde will have to face the adversities of the time, with Íñigo Peñalver as her former teenage love.
La Moderna shows a Madrid that is experiencing tumultuous years; However, this period story will be captured by an extremely attractive aesthetic: coffees, macarons and an incredible tea room are the protagonists of this television project, which aims to conquer the public every afternoon.
