The Generalitat has scheduled music band concerts, children’s recreational activities, fireworks displays and open days to celebrate October 9, Valencian Community Day. The programming will start on Wednesday, October 4, with proposals that will take place in the cities of València, Alicante, Castelló de la Plana and Elche.

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, who participated in the Palau in the event of presentation of the institutional image and the program, has invited people to enjoy some events organized from the sentiment to celebrate “a great day” that will allow “to catch forces” and that constitutes an opportunity to show the “collective civic conspiracy” of a united society.

The person in charge of the Consell has stressed that the Valencian Community does not have to be “changed”, but rather “applauded” and “promoted”, and has stressed that the creativity chosen in this “first October 9 of the Government of change” seeks precisely to convey a message of unity and feeling around the signs of collective identity.

The regional secretary of the President’s Office and Communication, José Manuel Cuenca, has stressed in this sense that numerous cultural and recreational activities will be carried out to make Valencians feel proud of their identity.

The image selected this year has been made by the designer Boke Bazán, with a number 9 as the protagonist, which, as the author explained at the event, is arrived at by multiplying three by three: the three provinces and the three colors of the ‘senyera’, with, in the words of the president, “the red of passion, the gold of its sun and the blue of the Mediterranean.”

From next Wednesday, October 4, the public will be able to visit, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Palau de la Generalitat, in Valencia, and the Council headquarters in Alicante (Post Office building) and Castellón (House of the Snails).

As for the activities scheduled at the ‘cap i casal’, from October 4 to 7, a gastronet will be installed next to the Palau de Castellfort, which is located in front of the Palau de la Generalitat, with a tasting of typical products. Furthermore, on the 5th, 6th and 7th, a ‘videomapping’ activity has been organized at the Palau de la Generalitat, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., during which, in a new way compared to other years, images will be projected not only on the Torre Vella, but also on the façade of Caballeros Street.

In addition, on Saturday the 7th, also on Caballeros Street, children’s games will be held, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Finally, on Sunday, October 8, at 12:00 p.m., a concert will take place in the Plaza de la Virgen by the Societat Renaixement Musical de Vinalesa; and on Monday, October 9, at the Tarongers Campus, the celebrations will conclude with a fireworks display at 00:00.

In the city of Alicante, from October 7 to 9 in Plaza Gabriel Miró, various children’s activities have been scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Likewise, on Sunday the 8th there will be a concert on the Esplanade, at 12:00 p.m., and on Monday, October 9, there will be a fireworks display, at 00:00 a.m., in the port.

The Valencian Community Day celebrations in Castelló de la Plana will take place on the 7th and 8th in the Plaza de las Aulas with the programming of various children’s activities. On the other hand, on Sunday the 8th, at 12:00 p.m., there will be a concert in the Plaza Mayor; and on October 9, at 00:00, a fireworks display will be set off between the Auditorium and the Congress Palace.

In Elche, children’s activities have been scheduled on the 7th and 8th, in the Plaza del Algeps and the Plaza de Castilla, respectively, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Likewise, on Sunday the 8th, the ‘Sones de Sax’ Musical Instructional Society will offer a concert in the Plaça de Baix, at 8:00 p.m., while on Monday, October 9, at 12:00 a.m., there will be a fireworks display in the Railway Bridge.
