The world of cinema is in mourning. This Thursday, one of its legendary actors, Michael Gambon, known for playing Hogwarts director Albus Dumbledore in the famous Harry Potter saga, from the third to the eighth film, died. At 82 years old, the Irishman died from pneumonia for which he had been admitted to the hospital for several days.

The news has taken over both international and Spanish news. However, the regional channel TV3 made a huge mistake by confusing Gambon with another legendary actor, but from another different saga, The Lord of the Rings. The images of both and even the first Dumbledore, Richard Harris, were mixed in the Catalan news piece.

Michael Gambon began his acting career at the age of 21, after training as an engineer and realizing that that was not his thing and that his true passion was acting. With more than 60 years of impeccable career, Gambón won four BAFTA awards for television and successful projects in radio and film.

Among the roles that catapulted him to international fame, it is worth highlighting the French-born detective Jules Maigret in the series Maigret, broadcast on the British channel ITV, and, of course, the legendary Albus Dumbledore, the director of Howards in the Harry saga. Potter. In the latter he did it in five of the seven films, more specifically, from the third to the seventh, thus replacing the first director played by Richard Harris.

Due to this change, there are many who confuse Gambon and Harris in Harry Potter, including the Catalan regional channel TV3, which this Thursday broadcast on its news program Telenotícies a compendium of images in tribute to the Irishman, but with the occasional blunder.

One of them, as we said, was to include in the tribute to Gambon images of Richard Harris, who had died years before, which led to a new casting for the character of Albus Dumbledore for which the Irishman was cast.

However, during the broadcast of the aforementioned video in the Catalan autonomous community, there was another even more blunder: including images of another actor corresponding to a saga different from that of Harry Potter, although equally well known. This is the Lord of the Rings trilogy and its famous Gandalf, played by Ian Mckellen.

“He played the charismatic wizard Albus Dumbledore in all the films of the saga and he was also Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings,” said the presenter while images of the three aforementioned actors were mixed while they played their famous fictional characters.
