The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has reiterated his support for the PP candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for the investiture, alleging that the alternative, Pedro Sánchez, is the “epitome of political corruption”, the most corrupt politician in the history of Spain: “There is no greater corruption possible than a politician amnestying another politician in order to remain in power,” the far-right leader blurted out in the short debate prior to the second vote in Congress.

Abascal, who has barely referred to Feijóo to tell him that he is different from Sánchez and to disgrace him for opposing the outlawing of EH Bilu, has insisted on the attacks on Sánchez and the amnesty that, in his opinion, he intends to grant to the independentistas. “There cannot be greater shamelessness for the whole world to see.” And he has reiterated that the head of the Executive is the “paradigm” of “corruption in politics” because he is “robbing” the Spaniards of “national dignity in exchange for always his own.”

Abascal has indicated that “Mr. Puigdemont is more coherent than you, Puigdemont believes in something, wrong, but you only believe in yourself” and added that “you are the president with the support of those who have murderers on their lists ” in reference to Bildu, whom he has called “philo-terrorists.” “You prefer criminals to Vox,” he reproached him.

Abascal ended his speech with a warning: “An amnesty is an aggression from which the Spanish people have the right to defend themselves and will do so.”
