Pineapple is a tropical fruit loaded with healthy properties, with a fresh, sweet and delicious flavor. Its optimal ripening season is in summer, although we can find it in supermarkets, markets and fruit shops throughout the year. However, there are those who do not buy it to avoid the tedious task of peeling and cutting it, since it has a particularly hard skin.
For this reason, a fruit seller has decided to share his tutorial for peeling and cutting pineapple, so you can enjoy it. “I find it very funny that you stop consuming a product as impressive as pineapple simply because you are too lazy to break it,” begins his story Raúl Cardaba, better known on social networks as @fruterotiktokero (more than 80 thousand followers on Instagram and more than 70 thousand on TikTok). Thus, he explains the procedure to peel and cut the pineapple easily and quickly.
The first thing he does is remove the trunk with his hands, before proceeding to peel and cut the fruit. Then, he removes the two corners with a large knife, and then proceeds to cut the pineapple in half. Next, split each half in two again, cutting where the heart is located.
“The pineapple has a pleasant texture, very rich, so the trunk cannot spoil the texture that the pineapple has,” says Cardaba, adding that “we remove the trunk, we do not waste it, because the trunk has flavor and has all the properties that pineapple has, but we don’t want the texture to bother us, so we put it in a container and leave it there.”
Next, proceed to remove the skin from each quarter of the pineapple by gently dragging the knife under the flesh of the fruit. Finally, cut the resulting piece into slices and cut it in half again, resulting in succulent and uniform pineapple tacos.
Pineapple is a fruit that barely provides calories (about 45 kcal per 100 grams), as it has a high water content (87% of its weight). It also exerts a diuretic effect. In addition, it must be emphasized that it facilitates digestion, thanks to the enzyme bromelain.
In turn, bromelain is an inhibitor of the formation of nitrosamines, substances with marked carcinogenic action. As if this were not enough, this enzyme is anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, anti-thrombotic and fibrinolytic.
On the other hand, pineapple is an excellent source of fiber, calcium, magnesium, potassium, folate, vitamins A and C. For all these reasons, it is a perfect fruit for following a healthy diet, especially popular in weight loss diets.
