Five years have passed in which the dream of a young entrepreneur has turned into overwhelming success. One that is born from the local and the sustainable, built with great care. The same one that provides our feet with the material from which unique sneakers in the world are made: merino wool. With this material, to which he applied the most advanced technology, Pablo Más (34 years old) managed to make sneakers that wanted to change the world. And boy did they change it. It was May 2018.
The young entrepreneur decided to revolutionize the footwear industry towards a new category inspired only by Premium natural materials. Like the merino wool of his first sneakers. Leaving behind the well-known leathers and synthetics, Yuccs recovered the material that was once considered gold in Spain. Then everything would be successes.
The Mallorcan footwear brand started with an initial investment of 15,000 euros and, in just five years, reached 10 million euros. In the 2020 pandemic, marked by a terrible economic crisis, Yuccs grew by 400%. In its first three years of life, it managed to sell more than 200,000 pairs of its merino wool sneaker in Spain through its online store.
Today, Pablo Mas’ dream brings together physical stores in five cities (Madrid, Barcelona, ??Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao and Oviedo) and as many corners in El Corte Inglés centers. And it also promotes his international career. At the moment, he is heading to Germany, where he wants to open up the market with e-commerce as the main sales channel.
None of this would be possible without the constant investment in R&D, 10% of its turnover, that the brand makes to create new natural materials. Only in this way is it possible to continue growing to meet the needs of an increasingly demanding customer, who is not satisfied with just any product. As its latest launch, the Grape Casual Boot, made with grape skin and incorporating WaterProtect™ technology, which consists of a water repellency treatment and a waterproof membrane.
And, although the first fabric developed by Yuccs was merino wool, throughout these years, the brand has innovated with other materials of the future such as bamboo, sugar cane soles or grape skins. It has been precisely this natural innovation – one of its three pillars, together with local commitment and maximum comfort – that is responsible for the early and exponential success of Yuccs and, of course, for the development of a firm technology that has allowed the Mallorcan footwear firm continue improving their products until they reach their best version. There are no limits when innovation and sustainability come together to achieve the same goal.
