The Cáceres Bicycle Festival, which is celebrating its forty-third edition, hopes to bring together this Sunday, October 8, more than 5,000 people of all ages who will fill the streets of the city to participate in one of the most massive events in the world. Cáceres calendar.
The start will be at 10:00 a.m. from the Plaza Mayor with the signal from Paralympic athlete Kini Carrasco, and the finish line will be placed on London Street, at the door of the Ruta de la Plata Shopping Center, where a final party will be held with raffle for gifts such as bicycles, tablets and a trip, among others. The numbers can be picked up at various sports stores in the city.
The route will be the same as the previous edition with a 7.2 kilometer circuit with an easy route so that adults and children can do it, and 2 regrouping points have been established.
The first section from Plaza Mayor will continue through Plaza del Duque, Calle Margallo, Plaza de Argel, Avenida Hernán Cortés (downhill direction towards Plaza de Argel), Plaza de Hernán Cortés, Avenida Clara Campoamor and Avenida de España (evens).
A first regrouping will take place on Avenida de España when the header reaches the entrance to Plaza de América. The second section from Plaza de América will continue along Antonio Hurtado and Cervantes avenues, access to Avenida de la Hispanidad (using the downhill lane from Avenida Cervantes, before reaching the bridge) and Avenida de la Hispanidad (using the direction of traffic towards Renfe).
And a second regrouping on Avenida de la Hispanidad takes place when the header reaches the entrance to the Renfe roundabout. The third section from Germany Avenue (using the direction of traffic towards Plaza de América), Plaza de América, Gil Cordero Street, Ruta de la Plata Avenue with a change of direction at the roundabout with Las Arenas Avenue, Roma Street and Arrival on London Street at the Ruta de la Plata shopping center.
The Councilor for Sports, Emilio Borrega, has presented this event together with the manager of the Ruta de la Plata Shopping Center, Rocío Pérez; and representing Cadena Cien Grupo Cope, Carmen Gómez. Both companies are the organizers of the event, for which he has encouraged them “to continue with many more editions because it is already a tradition in our city and one of the recreational-sports events with the most participants.”
“The Government team is committed to supporting all types of healthy leisure activities that benefit health through sport and this is one more way to promote healthy habits among young and old,” said Borrega, who has pointed out that this event “is a celebration of sports in capital letters” because it brings together entire families to promote sports practice between parents and children.
“The streets are going to be for the people of Cáceres, and we encourage them to enjoy healthy sports and family leisure in this festival,” he highlighted.
For his part, Pérez has pointed out that this activity is part of the center’s commitment to the environment and healthy living, through the ‘Origin’ project. “It is a party that has its own entity and the entire shopping center is dedicated to it,” said the manager, who recalled that in Cáceres there is a lot of cycling enthusiasm. “Although the city has many hills, we have bike lanes that are very good for cycling; and that is the spirit that we want to transmit, doing sports as a family and also looking for a sustainable city, where we use other sustainable and non-polluting means of transportation. such as bicycles, skates, scooters, etc.”, he pointed out.
Representing the Cope chain, Carmen Gómez has stressed that the festival has been evolving, since “it began as a sports and family meeting and has become a recreational day without a competitive nature, in which we demand a healthier mobility routine and sustainable”.
