A crash in the computer systems of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has paralyzed the motor vehicle registration processes since noon last Friday, September 29, which is causing vehicles to not be registered since then. according to an information note that the DGT has sent to those responsible for the sector and to which Europa Press has had access.

Furthermore, as the agency has been able to confirm from official sources, the IT teams are “completely dedicated” to solving the problem as soon as possible, while at the same time they have assured that they have conveyed peace of mind to the sector because, once the incident is resolved, the vehicles those pending registration “will enter the September data with the rectification.”

This incident has delayed the monthly registration data that the organizations publish on the first days of each month.

Thus, the sector has estimated that “thousands of vehicles remain to enter” because the last two days of the month are the ones that “accumulate the most registrations every month.”

Likewise, in the “unlikely” case of not being able to resolve the incident throughout this Monday, the DGT is looking for a contingency plan to manage registration requests through other processing channels.

It should be noted that the automotive sector is experiencing a year of recovery. While waiting to know the sales data for September, we can point out that last August the marketing of new passenger cars and SUVs registered a growth of 8% last August, with a total of 55,957 registered units.

According to Ideauto data for the employers’ associations Anfac (manufacturers), Faconauto (dealers) and Ganvam (sellers), during the first eight months of 2023, 642,580 units have been registered, which represents a growth of 20.5% compared to the same period. from the previous year.

Despite this growth trend, sales forecasts for this year remain below one million cars. Ganvam spokesperson, Tania Puche, has asked that the new Government implement the necessary measures to recover a market that in 2023 will close below one million units for the fourth consecutive year.
