Business school professor and popularizer Pablo Foncillas addresses the extent to which the remuneration received by the members of a board of directors is important for the proper functioning of the company. According to research carried out by the management expert, around a third of managers and directors surveyed acknowledge that not enough time is dedicated to establishing “appropriate” compensation systems.
A relevant issue, he argues, since establishing remuneration in line with this role performed within the organization contributes to the reduction of bad behavior of the members of the management body. And in this sense he adds that “the music does not sound good if such a relevant percentage confesses to such a serious problem in building the effectiveness of a company’s corporate governance.” In other words, he continues, “who starts a house from the roof?”
