This Tuesday, the Department of Education proposed to the education unions to eliminate the linguistic requirement of Valencian and pedagogical training (CAP or Secondary Master’s) in positions that are difficult to fill for Secondary or FP teachers. According to union sources, these would be mainly those of Computer Science and Computer Systems and Applications, for which there are no activated teachers in the continuous awarding process.

The proposal has not been well received by either CCOO-PV or STEPV, which in a statement considers that “the Ministry has an obsession with Valencian, a fact that is not the problem in filling these positions. The real problem is that it is not They fill these positions because it is more attractive to work in private companies than in education.

The difficulty of locating teachers for areas related to computing is framed in a context of a struggle for talent that Valencian companies have already systematically denounced, for which it is very difficult to find professionals and, what little there is, is disputed over salary proposals. very high. Now the problem also moves to education linked to these areas.

The proposal was launched yesterday afternoon by the general director of Teaching Personnel, Sonia Sancho, who explained that the obligation of Valencian is already exempted in Spanish-speaking areas in certain specialties and added that, given the complexity of filling the places, the Resolution of 27 October 2020 “already allows that when in the order of election of the participants in the exchange there are no applicants who meet the linguistic requirement, this element can be dispensed with.”

However, at the meeting it was agreed to seek solutions to this problem at the technical table that both the Ministry and the unions have agreed to address soon. In this working group on behalf of Education there will be representatives of the general directorate of Planning, the general directorate of Vocational Training and the general directorate of Universities.
