The Health Department plans to unify and centralize the general and psychiatric emergencies of Lleida in the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital for next year.

The change in model responds to the need to “better” address mental health emergencies, according to the Health Minister, Manel Balcells, from the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida where he visited the renovated Diagnostic Service room. Imaging and Nuclear Medicine.

With a cost of 9.5 million euros, the improvement works include new cutting-edge equipment for the diagnosis and monitoring of oncological, neurological and cardiovascular diseases, which places the health center “at the first level” of high technology in Catalonia, according to Salut.

Balcells has recognized that emergency care at the Santa MarĂa de Lleida Hospital can be “improved” and has explained that the department contemplates short and medium term solutions.

In this sense, the counselor has announced that “small” improvement works will be carried out imminently in the psychiatric emergency space of the health center, and that, for next year, the service will be moved to the Arnau Hospital in Vilanova de Lleida.

The “historic” change, according to the councilor, is also proposed to understand both centers as a health park. “We no longer have the Arnau de Vilanova on the one hand, and the Santa Maria on the other. We are also considering working together with the primary school,” he concluded.
