A Lleida court has decreed freedom without precautionary measures and at the disposal of the judicial authority whenever required, for the 3 leaders of a network accused of promoting a plot so that 11 prostituted women falsely reported suffering sexist violence and thus obtained residence permits and helps.
The Mossos d’Esquadra arrested these three men last Thursday for their alleged involvement in this plot, within the framework of a police investigation in which the eleven prostituted women were also arrested for supposedly filing false complaints, who were released with charges. after going to court.
The three people in charge of the organization are a man and a woman – aged 39 and 38 -, both residents of Lleida, as well as a woman of about 60 years old who was the one who offered prostituted women in Huelva to participate in this plot to obtain residence permits and aid to victims of sexist violence.
According to the Mossos, the three people responsible for the network made agreements with several men, mostly drug addicts or with financial problems, to accept the consequences of the false complaints, which sometimes led to imprisonment, in exchange for money or drugs.
The police investigation began in March 2023, due to suspicions of the possible existence of a plot that was dedicated to obtaining documentation such as residence permits or aid for victims of sexist violence through false complaints.
The false victims claimed that the aggressor was their partner and that they suffered gender violence, which made it easier for them to regularize their situation in Spain, through a temporary residence and work authorization due to exceptional circumstances, and they could also benefit from aid by taking advantage of the regulations. .
For this reason, the Mossos arrested these 3 people accused of the crimes of false reporting, simulation of a crime, falsehood, favoring illegal immigration and belonging to a criminal organization.
The three people responsible for this plot have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction 3 of Lleida on guard duty this Saturday, which has decreed their freedom without precautionary measures and at the disposal of the judicial authority whenever they are required.
The judge has opened a case for public health crimes and procedural fraud, and will advance the investigation by summoning a list of witnesses to testify.
