No doubt. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have a passion in common: their interest in World War II and the vindication of those Americans who fought against Adolf Hitler’s Germany and Prime Minister Hideki Tojo’s Japan.

After having joined forces with the miniseries Hermanos de sangre (2001), where they dramatized the role of a parachute company on the European front, and The pacific, about the marines in the battles of the Pacific, they have The masters of the air, of the who have published their first images.

It is a series that aims to honor those who “with courage and brotherhood helped defeat Nazi Germany in World War II,” explained producer Gary Goetzman, also linked to the previous Spielberg and Hanks productions.

It adapts a book by Donald L. Miller focused on the United States 8th Air Force and features two actors nominated in the latest edition of the Oscars: Austin Butler, now known as Elvis, and Barry Keoghan from Inisherin’s Banshee.

This time, however, the producing tandem changes partners: instead of selling the project to HBO, who produced their two previous war productions that accumulated 15 Emmy awards, including both for best miniseries, they have relied on Apple TV to finance the project.

It premieres on Friday, January 26, 2024 with the launch of the first two chapters, broadcasting one per week until its ending scheduled for March 15.
