More and more automotive companies are setting their sights on the burgeoning urban micromobility market on their path towards electrification. The latest to do so has been the British brand MINI, which has joined forces and knowledge with a specialist in the field of electric bicycles, Angell Mobility, to launch its first two-wheeled proposal in this segment.

The result is the newly named e-Bike 1, an elegant, intelligent mobility solution with personality. MINI’s new electric bike promises to revolutionize daily trips around the city, a few years after the brand also began its journey with electric-powered cars.

The collaboration between one of the members of the BMW Group and the French company Angell Mobility will last five years, so this is only the first of several two-wheeled proposals that are to come.

The aesthetics of the e-Bike 1 exude MINI spirit from all sides and come painted in two iconic colors of the brand: Ocean Wave Green and Vibrant Silver. In addition, it includes all the experience and technology of the French specialist, known in the sector for its stylish, light and avant-garde bicycles. Thus, we are looking at a vehicle that is intuitive to use and easy to drive based on the prestigious Angell models.

It is available in two frame sizes. The S variant tips the scales at 17 kg, while the M is a little heavier, at 17.5 kg, with an aluminum frame and carbon fork, a hallmark of Angell Mobility. It is powered by a 250 W rear hub motor with pedal assistance up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

The fact that it is so light means that it can be easily pedaled without the use of the motor, if necessary. The battery is camouflaged as if it were a luggage rack. The manufacturers decided their location so that the battery exchange was easy, fast and comfortable for the user.

A color screen with excellent visibility, located in the central part of the handlebar, offers detailed statistics, connectivity with various applications, remote control and unlocking of the bike… As an aesthetic originality, it has turn signals integrated into the side area of ??the handlebar grips. handlebar.

It also has geolocation and GPS navigation functions to optimize the driving experience. Geolocation would be useful in case of theft, while the GPS comes with a vibration function that tells the cyclist that they are approaching a curve without having to look at the screen and thus avoid being distracted by traffic.

To attract the attention of MINI fans, only 1,959 units of the e-Bike 1 will be sold. The number of bikes is not a coincidence, but corresponds to the year the brand was founded. You can now pre-order this bike at a price of 3,590 euros and deliveries will begin this coming November.
