At the end of the night, a spectacle in the sky, which I have been able to capture in this sequence of images for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

We can observe phenomena such as conjunctions or the Draconid meteor shower, which are considered the prelude to the most abundant meteor showers in the fall: the Leonids and the Geminids.

Conjunction is one of the main aspects of the planets. It is also applicable to any celestial object that is located visually close to another.

Two stars are in conjunction when, observed from a third (generally the Earth), they are at the same celestial longitude. Let’s look at the sequence of phenomena this past night.

In this image we see the conjunction of Venus on the left, the moon in the center and Jupiter at the top right.

In this other photograph we contemplate the conjunction of Venus with the moon and in the middle supposedly because of the date. a Draconid shooting star.

The moon is in its last quarter. It is one of the four lunar phases, specifically, the one in which only half of the lunar disk is visible from Earth.

The last quarter occurs when the rays that join the Earth with the moon and the sun form a 90 degree angle. Thus, from Earth it is only possible to observe half of the lunar disk (a quarter of the Moon), since the sun illuminates only that half.

Here we see Jupiter with its four visible satellites. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system, 318 times larger than Earth. It is also the oldest planet in the solar system and also older than the sun. It is a massive gaseous body, made up mainly of hydrogen and helium.

In Osona, fog is a very common phenomenon, as it is the area of ??Spain with the most days of fog per year, at least a hundred, and especially in autumn and winter. The towns of Plana de Vic are seen in this photograph with the lights on between the fog.

And at the end of this night the sun rises. I captured this whole spectacle from the Roc Llarg abyss, in Sant Bartomeu del Grau, Osona region. This municipality is the natural gateway to the Lluçanès region.
