José Luis Martínez Almeida and Teresa Urquijo couldn’t be happier. The couple has now become husband and wife. This Saturday, April 6, 2024, they said ‘I do’ in the Parish of the Sacred Heart and San Francisco de Borja, located in the Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid. After passing through the altar, the couple and their more than 500 guests celebrated the reception in Colmenar Viejo, the bride’s family estate, and there are some details that have already been revealed about the subsequent celebration, for example, the speech he gave the boyfriend.

The expectation was maximum for this event, which has already been described by many as ‘the wedding of the year’. The banquet cost around 90,000 euros, as was known in the hours before the wedding. After saying ‘yes, I want’ in the church, the couple moved to the venue, where they enjoyed a party with their loved ones and some recognized faces from the world of politics and the Spanish aristocracy.

Little by little, more details about this event are being revealed, one of them being the speech given by the mayor of Madrid, in which he joked about the age difference between him and his wife. This has been revealed by the Vanitatis portal, in some unpublished images shared on social networks. It should be remembered that he is 20 years older than his girlfriend. Next April 17, José Luis will turn 48, while his wife will turn 28 this year.

In the images revealed by the aforementioned media, Almeida can be seen thanking all the people who have contributed to the wedding being able to take place. At one point, he addresses his in-laws, Lucas and Beatriz. “In them I have found brothers, due to their age,” he said, causing laughter from the audience, who quickly understood the joke.

On such a special day for him, Almeida wanted to remember his parents, Rafael Martínez-Almeida y León y Castillo and Ángela de Navasqüés. His parent died from a stroke in 2012, and in 2019 he lost his mother. “Rafael and Ángela, my parents, are responsible for everything that has happened to me in my life, and this memory goes to them. When your parents are missing you always need someone to rest on and trust,” he also said in his speech, as reported by Vanitatis.

The truth is that the couple this Saturday put the finishing touch on a relationship that began less than a year ago. It was in early 2023 when the couple met for the first time. Then, Teresa approached Almeida. After several meetings at different events, she was encouraged to ask him for a first date, which finally took place on May 12. At that time, there was a political campaign, so the mayor wanted to wait until it was over to make the relationship public.

In June 2023, José Luis Martínez-Almeida officially introduced Teresa as his partner. He did it by going accompanied by her to Las Ventas, in the act that ends the San Isidro festivities. From then on, their relationship grew by leaps and bounds, until they became engaged and married.
