After months of waiting, José Luis Martínez Almeida and Teresa Urquijo are now husband and wife. This Saturday, April 6, 2024, the couple said ‘I do’ in the Parish of the Sacred Heart and San Francisco de Borja, located in the Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid. Several well-known faces from the world of politics in our country traveled there. One of them was Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president and candidate of the Popular Party in Spain. Precisely, the politician starred in an anecdote that has not gone unnoticed.
This Saturday’s wedding has been described by many as ‘the wedding of the year’. More than 500 guests attended the celebration and the banquet cost around 90,000 euros. Among the recognized faces were key players in the Popular Party environment, such as Isabel Díaz Ayuso, José María Aznar, Ana Botella and the presidents of Aragón and Murcia, Jorge Azcón and Fernando López Miras, respectively. Also attending was Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who starred in an anecdotal joke with the mayor of Madrid before the wedding.
The truth is that it was not known for sure whether the president of the PP would attend the meeting, so his arrival generated maximum expectation. There was much information that contradicted each other the previous days, until he himself announced that he would attend, but only at mass. Commitments in the Basque Country, where the electoral campaign has already begun, made him have to leave Madrid.
Upon his arrival, he affectionately joked with the mayor of Madrid, but he also joked with his partner, since both are not married. Alberto then said that Eva Cárdenas came from her boyfriend and he from his girlfriend. A comment that made those present burst into laughter, including the mayor, who was hoping that his big day would unfold in the best possible way.
But this was not the only scene that Alberto starred in. The PP candidate for the general elections had a small incident on the way out of the church that went unnoticed, but was picked up by the cameras of the attendees and the media. Feijóo left the church with his partner and suffered a trip that could have ended in tragedy, but it did not. With a smile and trying to hide it, he laughed at himself. For his part, Eva immediately offered her arm to prevent her from falling.
