“Good morning everyone, except the mosquitoes”, this is how the inhabitants of Campamento Rico woke up in ‘El Conquistador’. Presented by Raquel Sánchez Silva and Julián Iantzi, brave men and women face a challenging test of physical and mental strength. This show, known for being one of the toughest and most realistic on television, promises intense emotions and unforgettable moments in each episode as the contestants fight to overcome obstacles, demonstrate their determination and achieve glory in this relentless competition.

And if hunger usually takes its toll, in episode 6 the participants of ‘El Conquistador’ have discovered the true enemy: the midge mosquitoes of the island of Haitises.

“Everything is plagued,” said Andrea Azkune. Mati shared the opinion, stating: “I think that mosquitoes are the worst handicap of the adventure. The worst by far. “More than hunger.” Andrea responded to her partner, expressing her desperation over the constant itching: “Hunger can be endured, but the itching from so many mosquitoes, so many bugs… I no longer know what I have in my body!” Even though they cover their heads and sleep with mosquito nets, it doesn’t help. According to the contestants themselves, “they reproduce inside the mosquito net.”

Also in the Poor Camp, annoying insects have wreaked havoc. “You can’t sleep. It’s impossible,” Azu commented, scaring away mosquitoes with a leaf. Mireia, desperate, confessed: “They get inside your clothes… My hands hurt like hell. I have bites everywhere, they itch me all the time. It is awful”.

The same complaints also come from Camp Infernal, although David Seco’s lower back pain is worrying: “In the last 24 hours I can hardly stand up or bend down.”

The former professional cyclist from Vizcaya, winner of the Basque ‘El Conquistador’, received health care to try to alleviate his discomfort.
