The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, has messed up again at a sports inauguration. Yesterday on the basketball courts of the Rodríguez Sahagún II basic sports facility, Los Pinos, which he inaugurated, together with the CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, Cynt Marshall, he was encouraged to throw some shots and score baskets, reports the Ser network.
The problem came after after a basket, Almeida himself realized that he had broken his glasses and commented: “My glasses have broken, what a tragedy.”
The mayor of the capital messes up again every time he is put in trouble at a public event. First it was in 2020, when he hit a child with the ball in a soccer game when taking a penalty. He did not hurt him, but the public attending the event realized the move and approached the minor to check that he was okay.
On another occasion, he hit a photographer, also with a soccer ball, when he was working during the event. And in 2022, Almeida threw a rugby ball at several photographers who were covering the event. On social networks, these shots by the mayor are widely commented on and arouse laughter, but on this occasion he has not hit anyone with the ball, but rather he himself has suffered the damage. When asked, “Have you lost your vision, Mr. Mayor?”, Almeida replied: “My glasses have broken playing with the press.”
