The investigative court number 3 of Reus has decreed provisional prison without bail for the 39-year-old man arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of a man in Reus (Tarragona) as a result of a fight that occurred on September 29.

The Local Police of Terrassa (Barcelona) arrested last Saturday the alleged perpetrator of the violent death that occurred in Reus and this Monday he was placed at the disposal of the judge, who has agreed to provisional prison without bail and has opened a case for a crime of murder.

According to the investigation carried out, the events occurred last Friday, September 29, during a fight that took place in the center of Reus, when the detainee, and another unidentified person, kicked the victim several times, causing him to death.

The SEM (Medical Emergency System) treated the victim at the scene and took him to the Sant Joan Hospital in Reus, where he ended up dying two days later as a result of the blows received during the fight.

The accused has denied being the author of the events and has maintained an “incoherent” version that has not served to deny the evidence against him, according to the court order.

The judge has justified the provisional detention by stating that there is a risk of flight, due to the seriousness of the crime and the penalty provided for in the Penal Code, which can be punished with up to 15 years in prison.

Furthermore, the fact that the man was arrested today in Terrassa demonstrates, according to the order, “an attempt to leave” to “not be caught by the police.”
