The rescue of three other new boats in El Hierro, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote brings the number of migrants who have arrived to the Canary Islands coasts in the last few hours to 595, according to Maritime Rescue sources.

The latest rescue operations carried out by Salvamento have been related to a boat that was located about 71 miles northeast of Arrecife, in Lanzarote, by the fishing vessel Ikusieder.

The Salvamar Polimnia went to meet them and rescued their 26 occupants, of North African origin: 20 men, five women and a baby.

In El Hierro, another cayuco was sighted about 6.5 miles from La Restinga and was escorted by the Salvamar Adhara to the port, where 100 people disembarked: 74 men, 14 women and 12 minors.

Meanwhile, another cayuco was sighted about 12 miles from Arguineguín, Gran Canaria, at whose dock 70 people of sub-Saharan origin disembarked, escorted by the Salvamar Macondo. These boats are joined by two other canoes rescued in La Gomera and El Hierro and an inflatable boat in Lanzarote with 399 people.

The first boat arriving at La Restinga, in El Hierro, carried 248 people (176 adults, 27 women, 36 presumed minors and nine babies). Four people were treated with minor pathologies at the foot of the dock by the health services. The second canoe made landfall around 9:30 a.m. after being accompanied to port by a Maritime Rescue vessel and with 102 migrants on board, of which 71 are men, 16 women, 12 boys and two girls and a baby.
