As when the Cantar de mio Cid was written, times seem to have arrived when “the stones will sing.” We are seeing things we have never seen or imagined. The president is loaded with reasons to create a government of progressives and exclude anyone who smacks of reactionary. He seeks, as he promised, votes under the stones. He wants, in accordance with his future needs, long-range agreements, which they call legislature. He claims to be identified with stability. Sánchez is the regime. The rest is provisional and transitory. Due to his location on the ideological map, he is in the best conditions to achieve it. Let’s not take half measures: he is the only one who can achieve it.
He does not lack daring. You have to be very Sánchez to appear before the country one day, put on a statesman’s gesture and say: “Spain, we have a problem, which is the judicial persecution of the patriot Carles Puigdemont and the other protagonists of the process. It is true that one day that man tried to break up the nation, a crime against the country, but my idea of ??national unity is that of Ortega, of a great consensus, and we must integrate Puigdemont into our project. This is how the new Sánchez government is shaping up. They are trying to reach a consensus more than anyone else, which has to be good. There are too many pens, too many feelings, ready to mobilize against that idea. They consider it a humiliation that “the usual Spain” is not willing to endure. “Not in my name” is the slogan that, despite its conservative sound after the last major demonstration in Barcelona, ??is also very popular in certain offices on Ferraz Street in Madrid.
That is or seems to be the emotional state of the matter. And note a detail destined to increase passions: the dialogues, if they exist, are between blocks and with many outsiders.
