This year marks 30 years since the completion of the restoration of one of the most fascinating places in the Vatican, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. For thirteen years, a team of experts worked to free the frescoes from soot and other substances. The restoration tasks ended in 1994 with “The Last Judgment”, when they restored one of the most important works of cultural heritage in the world to its splendor.
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most visited works and one of the main attractions of this European microstate. Michelangelo painted the chapel’s vault in four years, beginning in 1508 and finishing in 1512. During this time, he devoted much of his energy and talent to this great task.
At that time, the author received the commission from Pope Julius II to paint the ceiling of his vault. Turning the fresco into a true fascination for all lovers of painting and art in general.
