Alarm due to the call from the Islamic State environment to attack the stadiums where the Champions League quarterfinals are played. Specifically, a publication encourages lone wolves to carry out terrorist attacks against the four European stadiums where the matches will be played: in Madrid, Paris and London.
Specifically, the poster targets the Santiago Bernabéu, where the Real Madrid-Manchester City will be played; the Metropolitano, which will measure Atlético de Madrid against Borussia Dortmund; the Parc des Princes, with the match between PSG and Barça and the Emirates Stadium, which hosts Arsenal-Bayern Munich.
The alarms went off this Monday night after the Al-Azaim Foundation and Sarh al-Khilafah, unofficial media related to the Islamic State, published a poster with photographs of the four stadiums and a phrase: “Kill them all.” The image shows a man with his face covered and with a rifle, next to the name of the four stadiums.
At the moment, it is not clear to what extent this threat refers to any premeditated attack, but the fact is that the Spanish state and a good part of Europe is currently at terrorist alert level 4 out of 5. Therefore, events such as Big football matches already have great surveillance to avoid any type of attack.
For now, Real Madrid is calling for calm, and assures that nothing changes and that the match already has strong security measures because it is considered high risk. In this sense, the Spanish government will decide this Tuesday whether or not to take extra protection measures for the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Manchester City at the Bernabéu, according to the newspaper Marca.
